Description

The colony was originated by M.R. Curtis at the Columbia University Institute for Cancer Research in 1920, who purchased animals from a commercial breeder (Fischer). Dunning at Columbia developed the strain via inbreeding starting in 1920. It came to Charles River in 1960.
